Little Shop of Horrors

The Meek Shall Inherit

  1. Why does Seymour feed Mushnik to the plant? Seymour feeds Mushnik to the plant because he found out about the incident, where he killed Orin, and because he threatened to tell the police.
  2. Why doesn’t Seymour kill the plant after the plant eats Mushnik? He doesn't kill the plant because he feels like he is going to be famous and earn money, which he thinks will make Audrey happy.
  3. What sacrifice does Seymour make by allowing the plant to live? He puts at risk himself and everyone.
  4. What does the lyric line “The meek are gonna get what’s coming to them by and by” mean to you? The weak guys are going to get what they deserve.
  5. In the song, “The Meek Shall Inherit”, Seymour chooses to keep the plant alive. However, later in the musical, he must live with the consequences of his choice when Audrey dies. What other choices does Seymour make in the musical? Are there any situations where he had no choice? When Seymour had no more blood to give to the plant, he had no choice but to get someone else to feed it. Knowing that no one would give up there blood for free, he had to kill someone.

Audrey II

  1. Is Audrey Two believable as a character? I think Audrey II is not a believable character because plants don't talk.
  2. How do the Audrey II puppets heighten the reality of the musical? The Audrey II puppets heighten the reality by coming in really loud and intimidating.

Critical Analysis

In my opinion I think this musical was entertaining, the music was great, it kept the audience engaged. The dialogue of the musical wasn't bad, the way they talked, it seemed like they were robots. The structure of the musical was well thought about, it began with a catchy theme song, attracting the audience and had a predictable ending. The music and lyrics worked well with the actors, it suited their personality character-wise.
